The client’s five grandchildren had diverse programmatic demands
for their tree house. It needed to be flexible, dynamic, and functional: able
to accommodate swings and ladders, bridges, lighting, and games of war. The
result is a simple system of holes applied to wood panels that are attached
to a steel frame. The kids can use and attach to all sides of the tree house
in a multitude of ways, creating a flexible system that has a beautiful
architectural effects as the gradient pattern of circles creates a dynamic
lighting within the tree house that changes throughout the day.
